It was another busy weekend for the club, with all four men’s underage teams playing over the weekend. Our under 17 ladies had the weekend off, after last week’s game with Cork.
On Saturday in The Showgrounds, our under 13 side defeated Longford Town 4-2, to continue their good form. Owen Elding scored a brace to take his tally to 19 competitive goals this season so far, and Cian Carty added two goals to complete the scoring.
It was an impressive display from the team, who played some nice football throughout. The visitors played some good football themselves and with two well taken goals, they were always in the game.
Next up is a trip to Oriel Park to take on Dundalk this coming weekend.
Also on Saturday, our under 15 side travelled to Sallynoggin to face Bray Wanderers. The sides met two weeks ago in Sligo where the Bit O’ Red came out 2-0 winners in a tight game. It was another close encounter on Saturday and Eanna Clancy’s goal was enough to give Rovers a share of the spoils. Clancy has proved prolific this season, scoring eight times from defence.
The lads also face Dundalk this weekend, however the game will be played at home at The Sean Fallon Centre.
Our under17 side travelled to Ballybofey to take on Finn Harps on Saturday afternoon. Rovers had some good spells in the game and can consider themselves hard done by to have come out with a 4-1 defeat. Josh Mulrennan scored his third goal of the season, but it only proved to be a consolation goal.
On Saturday next, at 1pm, the side host Derry City at The Sean Fallon Centre.
Brian Dorrian’s under 19 side had a disappointing result yesterday at home to Finn Harps. The game finished 4-0 to Harps, who were impressive on the day. The two sides played out a 2-2 draw four days earlier in Donegal, but the blues proved too strong yesterday.
Rovers travel to take on Derry City next weekend.
