Sligo Rovers are delighted to announce the appointment of Sean Flannery as the new Men’s First Team Head of Strength & Conditioning after the departure of Mark Howley.
Flannery took up the same position back in 2016 before departing to set up his new business and returns today and will oversee the implementation of the teams Strength & Conditioning and fitness programme throughout the 2023 SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division season.
Sean runs his own business, SFX Sport & Fitness, located in Rathcormac in Sligo.
Flannery is a former Bit O’ Red player having played for the club between 1998 and 2007.
Sean is thrilled to be back involved at The Showgrounds for 2023:
”It is great to be back involved in The Showgrounds.
”I spoke with John Russell before Christmas and he outlined what he was looking for from the role and I am delighted to now be part of the team again.
”I am looking forward to the season ahead, getting to know all the players, getting some solid work done and continuing the good work Mark Howley has put in place the past couple of seasons”.
The Bit O’ Red squad have been put through their paces with their new Strength and Conditioning coach over the past few days since the return to pre-season training. Flannery will join the squad on a pre-season training trip to The UK next week to oversee the side’s training programme across the weekend.
