Sligo Rovers will be pitted against Coleraine and Cork City in the initial stages of the Setanta sports Cup following the draw for the 2009/10 competition which was made at FAI headquarters in Abbotstown today.Nine clubs will take part in the 2009/10 Setanta Sports Cup, making this season’s competition the biggest since the tournament was launched in 2005. This season’s competition, which will run until May 2010, will see three clubs – Bohemians, Coleraine and Sligo Rovers – make their debuts in the Setanta Sports Cup. Milo Corcoran, Chairman of the Setanta Sports Cup Organising Committee, thanked Setanta Sports for their ongoing commitment to the competition and said that the 2009/10 Setanta Sports Cup would be the biggest since the launch of the competition in 2005: “It has been a pleasure to watch this competition grow since its debut season in 2005. On behalf of the FAI, IFA and the clubs, I would like to thank Setanta Sports for their ongoing commitment to the competition, despite what has been a challenging few months for their own company. Setanta Sports have been excellent partners for us and I am delighted to continue that partnership. This season sees nine clubs compete in the competition, making it the biggest ever Setanta Sports Cup. The introduction of a ninth club facilitates our move to spreading the clubs into three groups of three. Kicking off in August, the Setanta Sports Cup will run until May of next year. The introduction of semi finals played over two legs will be welcomed by clubs and fans alike, while the scheduling of matches at the weekend for the first time is also a welcome addition. We believe that these changes to the format of the competition will improve what was already a winning recipe.” Setanta Sports Cup 2009/10 Group One Group Two Group Three Cork City Bohemians Linfield Cliftonville Glentoran Derry City Sligo Rovers Coleraine St. Patrick's Athletic NOTE: Please find revised fixture schedule below 1 Fri/Sat 28/29 August Cork City v Cliftonville Glentoran v Bohemians St. Patrick's Athletic v Linfield 2 Fri/Sat/Mon 18/19/21 September Sligo Rovers v Cork City Coleraine v Glentoran Derry City v St. Patrick's Athletic 3 Fri/Sat/Mon/Tue 2/3/5/6 October Cliftonville v Sligo Rovers Bohemians v Coleraine Linfield v Derry City 4 Mon/Tue 2/3/November Glentoran v Coleraine 4 Mon/Tue 9/10 November Cork City v Sligo Rovers St. Patrick's Athletic v Derry City 5 Fri/Sat 2627 February Sligo Rovers v Cliftonville Coleraine v Bohemians Derry City v Linfield 6 Saturday, March 13 Cliftonville v Cork City Bohemians v Glentoran Linfield v St. Patrick's Athletic
